had my phone charging over night, alarm did not go off in morning and the phone is completely dead. Cannot reboot, reset, or connect to itunes. Apple help had no suggestions other than I need a new phone.
Iphone 4 is so disappointing!
I saw the other thread on this, it is marked as answered, but the reset function does not work on my phone...

See if you can force the phone into recovery mode:

Leave the USB cable connected to your computer, but NOT your phone, itunes running, press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen. You may now release the home button. iTunes should now display that it has detected your phone in recovery mode, if not quit and reopen iTunes. If you still don’t see the recovery message repeat these steps again. iTunes will give you the option to restore from a backup or set up as new.

If that doesn't work, make an appointment at an Apple store.

You will have to do a shipping method then. You can choose from CDO (Customer Drop Off) or Advanced Replacement Service.

CDO entails you dropping your phone off at a local UPS store with a repair ID set up through AppleCare and UPS packs up your iPhone and ships it to Apple. Once Apple gets it at their depot they will check it for accidental damage and water damage. As long as neither of those are found they will try to repair the phone. If they cannot repair it they will replace it.

Advanced replacement costs 29 dollars if you do not have AppleCare Protection Plan. Also you must have a hold placed on your credit card for the retail value of a new iPhone and they will send you a new iPhone out first. When you get the new one you will put ur SIM into the new phone, send the old phone back. When they get the old phone back they will check it for accidental or water damage. As long as neither of those are found they will release the hold. If either are found they will hold 199 and return the remaining money.

wjosten,

Just a little humor - God know this forum need some.

*press & hold the home button while connecting the USB cable to your dock connector, continue holding the home button until you see “Connect to iTunes” on the screen.*

I would have a better chance of rubbing my head in one direction my stomach in the other direction while standing on one leg.

I hope it works for the OP but he/she better have a friend to lend a hand. LOL
