Iphone 3gs ios 4.1 not connecting to WPA2

Hello,

since i have a new phone( 3Gs ) with ios 4.1 (8B117 ), i can connect on standard wifi networks, but at work with the WPA2 wifi security, i connect, the server is providing me a certificat , the connection seems OK, but the wifi network is not working, i have no IP addr .
Just to be sure, i tested with my Ipad (3.2.2 7B500 ) and this is working.

Is there any issue with WPA2 in Ios 4.1 ?
any idea how to solve this ?

thx

Franck

Hello,

Just to protide more information, I have a new phone, and a co-worker has a new touch, and he has now the same problem. This seems du to security setting of our enterprise network, since I was already login to our enterprise with the same device name, but with an other MAC address. This is considered a security issue, and we are not allowed on the network.

So now, our IT manager needs to see how to reset individual devices...

I will keep you posted. With finding.

Hello,

More details, an other new iPod touch is here with ios 4.1, and since this is the first time for this user, there is no issue to connect the touch Withington ios 4.1 Withington wpa2 enterprise.

So More and more, the issue seems to be in the security of a new device, with the same device name, but with an other MAC number. This could be interpreted as a hack attempt and just stop the device.

Now we are in the details of the wpa2 setting....keep you posted.

Please, if you upgrade to a new device, be aware.

Correct. Standard stuff if your enterprise network uses MAC filtering. It is a bit primitive to manage wireless in that fashion, but if you ever change hardware you will have the problem again. The iTunes name of the device is meaningless.

I have a very similar issue and today, after's months of trying everything, I finally found a workaround.
My problem was this: My iphone 3GS would detect the network, seemingly 'connect' to it (it has a tick next to it) and it would get the ip address and everything fine...but the icon for the wireless would not appear.

Try this: While the network 'seems' to be connected, go to 'Other' and pretend as if you want to join a new network. Enter the network name and set the security to WPA2 Enterprise. Enter your username and password. Press done and wait about 30 seconds.

For me this worked, however I need to do this procedure EVERY time i want to connect to it.

Greetings,

Your IT folks should be able to fix this. I use WPA2 here on our campus, and it works fine for all phones, notebooks, iPhones, iPads, and all the other smart phones.

Your IT folks must have an authentication procedure for you to follow, and should be registered in a WiFi Group, for security purposes. That's how we have it set on our network. We use a combination of user name, and the host name of the device, located in that special WiFi Group.

Cheers,
M.

I had the same problem on the Wifi network at my work. My Ipad (IOS 3.2), 3GS (IOS 4.0) connected fine to the WPA2 Enterprise Wifi network, but my new Iphone 4 (IOS 4.1) couldn't connect (well it connected, got an IP address, but no wireless indicator and no internet connection).
Your workaround is also working for me, which for me is a proof that the problem is within IOS 4.1 and not in the WPA2 network at work.

I'm happy with your post, so I can at least use the wifi connection now, but it still is an issue that needs to be fixed. I hope that iOS v4.2 will solve it or that anyone else has a definitive solution for this problem.
