how can i convert exec files?

I have copied over from PC XP several files that I believe must have been either 'scrap' or some type of scanned image... they are not opening on Mac. The remain as a black icon with exec in the top left hand corder. Can I convert the files to open?

imac OS x, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

ok - I'll leave them then. Not risking downloading anything just for a few files. I think I will have a go at converting them first on XP to pdf then email them to myself and see if that works. Thanks.

Those are Windows executable files or programs. You can only run them in Windows.
