The LED on my Magsafe light stays green, even if I disconnect it from my Macbook Pro. When I plug it in it says it's not charging but it actually is (I think). I had it plugged in for 15 minutes and the available battery life went from 40 minutes to 1:20. The remaining time is only displayed with the Magsafe disconnected, of course.

13" MacBook Pro 2.26 GHz, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Curious, I'd have expected the green light showing would not charge (but don't doubt what you saw). Reset the SMC (System Management Controller) and then see what it does ? If it's still 'charging' while green I'd be inclined at ask Apple to take a look at it and check things over.

I too suspect there's a problem there, particularly because the light stays green when the plug is not connected to the computer. That suggests a short in the adapter to me. Be sure to take the adapter along and have it tested if you take the computer in for evaluation.

I took my MBP to the Mac Store and the tech said he had never seen that before. He checked my battery and it all looked good. After he re-booted the third time the charger started charging but the light stayed green, and after the fourth re-boot it works like it is supposed to.

He thinks the charger might be getting ready to blink out but he can't be sure. He told me to use it until it stopes working, if it ever does, then deal with it.

Interesting he saw the odd behaviour but didn't replace the MagSafe (I'd have asked them firmly but nicely to replace it there and then to be honest), at least you have the problem logged so if something does fail it will be fixed free ...

I agree with iVMichael — I would have expected the tech to replace it right away. You did get a case number, didn't you?

My MBP is actually out of warranty as it is more than 1 year old. He told me to replace it would cost nearly $100 so I was fine with taking it home. It hasn't given me a problem since.
