Apple Hardware Test with Firmware Password

I can no longer boot of the Applications DVD to I can run the Apple Hardware Test because I entered a firmware password for my MacBook Pro.

What can I do so that I can run the AHT? Is there a way to install it on the hard drive? Pressing the D key during boot (with or without the installation DVD) does nothing (tried a number of times).

Thanks much for your help.

You have to remove the firmware password first. Insert your original install DVD, reboot, and hold down the Option key. Enter the password when prompted. You should see the install disk appear as a boot option - choose it, and when it boots up, select the Firmware Password Utility menu. Set the password to blank in both fields. Now reboot again holding down D.
