I would like to purchase an emergency battery charger for my iPhone 3GS that I can use when my phone battery begins to run low on power and I don't have ready access to conventional charging. I purchased an emergency battery charger recently that was to be compatible with all iPhones; however, when attaching the charger to my phone, I get a message on the screen which says "Charging of battery not compatible with this accessory." Does anyone out there know of an emergency battery charger (preferably with a lithium battery) that has the appropriate plug for an iPhone as well as is compatible?

Lenmar and Kensington make what you are looking for. I have one of each. The Lenmar was available at Radio Shack.
Lawrence, thanks. With the Kensington, I'm assuming one can charge the device using the USB port in the wall plug unit that came with the iPhone. I don't always have ready access to a computer with a USB port.
I just bought the Veho Pebble (5000mAh) which comes with about a dozen connectors. Works fine on the iPhone 4
Charges off a USB port or the iPhone adaptor in the wall socket.
Recharges your iPhone from flat up to 4 times

Both of them can be charged with any USB charger.
There's also the Morphie Juice Pack, a recharger built in to a case, but it has lower capacity, and some users say it blocks the 3GS antenna and thus reduces signal strength. Just word of mouth; I have no direct experience with it.

Thanks; I hadn't heard of that one. 5 AH is about 3 times the capacity of the Kensington and Lenmar.
Check out the Just Mobile's Gum Plus. Has a capacity of 4400 and it provides 'fast charging' which means you should be able to obtain 0-90% in like 1 hour. (tested and proven true)

I am currently using it for my iPhone 4 and it is pretty much an awesome battery pack. I would highly recommend it if you are a heavy power user like me.
If you want a monster, check out Zagg's sparq2.0. It is a massive 6000mah in capcity.

The reason why I would highly recommend these 2 in particular is because they hold enough to even charge an ipad which allows for great fexibility 🙂
Hope this helps!
