Youareanidiot & Proxy Error

Hi, recently at our school we've been encountering some bad issues with our connections, FireFox would work fine, but Safari would refuse totally to connect.

Here's the issue: Safari starts up, and any page, it says it cannot connect to the Proxy Server. I've tried changing around the settings a bit in the Network Preference panel, but so far no luck.

And if I open FireFox it directs me to <another site called you are an idiot>

But in advanced, there's nothing wrong with FireFox, pages load fine, proxy servers, etc. And Safari, (on this based ocassion) is actually needed for this project, since it's the most compatible with the site. (Don't ask me why, it's the county's decision.)

And anyways I'd really appreciate the help if someone could assist with this Safari issue, also, since its a school Network, like always, you should know:
[LIST]
The Network is password protected.
The Network is highly encrypted, and protected from Outside Network attacks, such as Malicious code, and such etc.
I have no idea why Safari won't connect to the Proxy server side.

Like I said, thanks and I truly do appreciate any assistance! ☺

Roger ...

I just checked the link and it goes directly to the *Safari Forum in Apple Discussions.* ( http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=169)

If you want to double-check, you can hover your mouse over the link and you should be able to see the url in your browser (or you could control-click the link and inspect its properties).

I don't think there's anything threatening in the Safari Forum unless some user is on a wild rant !

Maybe you should check your Virus Barrier software.

It doesn't sound like it.

I have no idea why Safari won't connect to the Proxy server side.

The first thing you should do is run this program: http://www.dnschanger.com/
to see if you have the DNSChanger trojan. If you're lucky, that is all it is and can be easily removed.

If that doesn't do it, your problem may be in your network. Your non-Mac machines may have been compromised by some real virsues that will be much harder to remove.

What link? It was removed this morning, and it definitely didn't go to the Safari Forum (which I agree is Mostly Harmless).

You can find the site by Googling on 'You are an idiot' as a phrase; it is listed as a .org site which claims to be to do with Flash video. VirusBarrier sees it as a web threat - apparently it's in a list - I don't know why and I don't feel particularly inclined to test it. It may well be harmless, but I thought it better to request removal just in case. If people want to chase it up they can easily do so, but better in the circumstances not to have it immediately available on a link.

Also, just to let you know, they removed the threat (seemingly I think its removed,)
but what it does, (tested this on my own Windows PC,) It's not very pretty, you might want to check This Video. --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPT9qi1U8

As you can see, it's not very good. And tbh, its funny, I tested it on a school Mac once, it kept popping up more and more windows, and I couldn't even get to the apple menu to go to force quit or shut down/log off! It's scary, I know!

The worst part is, where it messed up the Interface until Finder crashed from so many windows and Javascript attacking the poor Mac.

I eventually had to do a cold shutdown and reboot, plus, the worst part is, it adds itself to the cache so it loads again if you open safari/firefox again.

:S

Still, the problem is still affecting our school.

We plan on just resetting the network, if this problem continues.

Funny thing is, it hit the Windows PC's harder than our Macs in our offices!
