I took it to an Apple Store. I had restored it to factory settings before taking it. At first the rep said it must be a software problem because it seemed to be working fine when I was there, of course. I insisted I wanted a replacement. He went to get one, reluctantly, and when he came back it wasn't working again. Anyway, besides feeling good about 'showing him', this proved that it isn't a software problem.
I got my replacement yesterday and today, these **** buttons are not working again, I must be cursed. It's definitely a hardware problem and I'm definitely getting my replacement replaced.Ipod Touch 4G 32Gb, iOS 4
