Adding hyperlinks in a Word doc is impossible on the iPad

I am quite desperate and would highly appreciate any hint on this issue. I bought an iPad 3G with the idea of getting rid of my laptop but I just can't do it because of a silly issue. I write for a on-line paper and need a Office suite (best if it syncs with Google Docs) that allows you to highlight a text and add an hyperlink (not just paste the link).

I have purchased and downloaded I think every single office suite on the App Store but no one seems to have this basic feature. How can that be?

Do you mean you want a piece of text to have a hyperlink associated with it, like a 'click here'?

If so, you can't do it yet. No-one's yet implemeneted the ability to associate the two.

Google Docs is coming to iPad soon, and may help

Correct. I would like to add an hyperlink to the word, let's say "Google" and clicking on it would link you to Google.com

I look forward to see the iPad supported Google site, but astonished that not a single developper has gone through this though

This seems to have been implemented in to new update to Pages for iPad.

From the support website her

Edit the displayed text:

1.

Tap the hyperlink text, and then tap Hyperlink Settings.
2.

Tap Display, and then change the text to appear the way you want.

Thanks Nick, I have updated to the latest version of Pages for iPad and when I select a text, I still cannot find any option to add a hyperlink. That's odd

OK, I got it to work.

I typed the url, followed by a return. After a moment, Pages underlined the url, makring itr as a hyperlink. I them tapped the ulr and got a pop-up with the hyperlink settings in it.

More info:

www.bbc.co.uk (i.e. the http:// isn't requuired) works and I can display 'BBC website' with an active hyperlink

Http://www.BBC.co.UK (i.e. upper case doesn't work)
