May 18, 2014 5:39 AM in response to KiltedTimby Acacia121,I have been in Saudi for two years and have used Facetime on my ipad up to mid April this year. Now every time I try to facetime home I can see the call coming in but when I try to accept it it hangs for 30secs and then tells me that it can't make the connection. I have the same problem when I make the call. Has anyone any suggestions?
Thanks.

May 18, 2014 8:32 AM in response to Acacia121by dilbert41,Both you and the receiver must be on the latest release of iOS to use Facetime. That means 7.1.1 if you can install it.

May 22, 2014 10:26 AM in response to Acacia121by whiller123,Hi
I have two people out in Dubai Both with Iphone5's and both with Ipad airs they can not facetime each other there or facetime the UK. The ISP.s out there block video calls full stop I am told.
We have even tried pushing all their internet traffic down a VPN back to our UK office but that does not work either. `As you say it hangs for a while then reports that the person is not available for facetime.
We now stay in touch with Viber no video just voice and that works perfectly, free and friendly.
Regards
Rob

I think you are correct I am suprised that Viber works though, I understand the loacal telephone providers are government controlled and do not want us having any type of free communication video or otherwise.
Good old Viber I didn't know that was still alive, I will try that later and report back as I have contacts out there too

Jul 3, 2014 9:51 AM in response to CrebbyYeAHby KiltedTim,You purchased a gray market phone that was illegally imported and re-sold there. Your father did not.
Any opinions on why the KSA government bans it would be pure speculation. The fact is that they ban it. The reason why is irrelevant.

Isn't this "fact" also speculation?
Where is something that states the KSA government bans it?

Jun 7, 2015 4:48 AM in response to deanfromburry st edmundsby Wallace Dee,In addition, even those who have iPhone enabled Facetime purchased from USA or from any other countries (except middle east) that didn't work well after few months, especially in Saudi Arabia. If someone out there can enable Facetime and installed it on your iPhone through Jailbreak or without Jailbreak--better not to do it because it won't work longer than expected. Just leave it like that and be satisfied without Facetime because there are several alternatives free applications where you can use free video call (better than Facetime, I guess).
