When I Download a .zip file Safari automatically opens it

I work with Joomla websites where I need the .zip files to stay zipped when I download them and the new version of Safari seems to open them by default. I can't find a preference to change it. Can you help?

iMac, MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.4)

Safari > Preferences > General > Open safe files after downloading.
without that checked, zips should just stay zipped... they do here.
