macbook pro trackpad problem

If you've recently done some work on your computer and opened up the case by removing the screws, loosening the screws that are underneath the trackpad and bottom right corner of the keyboard. This is where the battery is, and typically, the bottom of the case sticks out a bit more on this side than on the other. I made this adjustment and it fixed my problem.

I have the same issue running OSX 10.7.5 on a late 2011 MBP, I've noticed the problem only happens I'm ussing the power adapter, if I'm running on the battery there is no problem at all.
Arthuro, I have also absolutelly the same issue on my early 2011, 13" MBP running OS X 10.8.5.
I have this problem with all of my 3 original power adapters. If I disconnect the PA - the pointer movement will be immediately smooth and comfortable again.
Of course, everything on MBP is clean 🙂
Hmmm... I did eliminate some problems removing Dropbox, but tracking problem on my MacBook13 are now returning. However, there is no more problems with Google Drive.
The solution may be twofold: to put a thin piece of celululoid from a role of film under the trackpad and try to clean it again. However, another and permanent safe solution is possible by leaving that piece of film underneath to block the trackpad, while returning back to good old mouse!
Stay tuned!
I had jumping erratic unresponsive cursor behaving randomly. All back to normal after cleaning the trackpad with glasses cleaner and cleaning round edges to remove dust etc.
Good for you. I could not do it.
The solution is to lock a trackpad and activate USB mouse, which I did. It works beautifully.
Apple suggests:
The option to enable or disable "Ignore trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad is present" on your Mac notebook can be found in System Preferences:
OS X v10.7 Lion or OS X Mountain Lion v10.8
OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard
Hi Y'all,
After reading all the posts!, not only this one but other sites. lol, "I, Believed it was my friend's android phone with a virus that was connected at first", so here was the fix for me atleast. The touchpad sidewall was to far pushed in the left side wall. I pushed it over a bit gently! to the right, fixed. I hope this helps out alot of people. Cheer lol some of the fix ideas are great laughs!

My trackpad was going nuts on my 2009 mbp 13". I took out the battery, removed the trackpad, and cleaned it thoroughly. Put it back in but pushed it up against the right top corner and secured it in place. I also tightened the click distance via the little tri-screw and viola! No more issues!
Woops.... Voilà**
I have a MacBook Pro mid 2012 with the same problem. It just went today. I am not tech savvie and can't even see how to atke out the battery! At first, I just pressed down on the trakpad and that didn't help. Then I pressed down as I wiped over the whole trakpad from right to left. Bingo! You are just amazing! Thank you Thank you.
In addition to pressing on the trackpad, which worked. I decided to follow your advice too and use Repair Disk. Seems as if there are hundreds of repairs still being made to iBooks...something I didn't know I even had and have no idea what it even is. But there you go. I guess it is agood idea to use this Utility from time to time, eh?
Thanks for the advice.
I found problems recurred, but finally identified the issue as being AC Power Adapter - this wasn't being properly earthed due to cable strain fault. As result the capacitive touchpad was getting activated by charge that built up and so set cursor dancing. Apple replaced magsafe adapter and all working perfectly since.
Wow, brilliant! Just took out my battery on MBP late 2008 15" and it actually LOOKS a little chubby. Some white-ish dust on it, too. I knew it was losing charge pretty quickly, but swollen glands are a symptom I would not have thought of. Clicks like a champ now. I will need a new battery. Thanks!
Ohmygosh! That works.
PROBLEM SOLVED!
Thank the Lord! My mouse cursor was moving erratically, seemed to be opening tabs, maybe doing the equivalent of holding shift and dragging, minimized windows, etc. Pretty much the same problems I see on other's posts.
I tried dissonnecting WI-FI, then shutting off Bluetooth, Disconnected and Turned off my Bluetooth Mouse, disconnected my wireless keyboard nub from the USB port, tried shutting off my Macbook and restrarting. I even shut the lid of my Macbook and worked off my second monitor in clamshell mode. NOTHING WORKED.
I thought I was hacked or had some type of Malware for sure, but it was a simple fix that I found on another help board.
I clean my Mac, keyboard and mouse regularly and had just got done wiping everything with a cloth with a mixture of warm water and rubbing alcohol (recommended)
I saw on another board that someone fixed their problem by moving their trackpad (gently) to the right, since the trackpad seemed to be too snug on the left side of the macbook body edge it sits in.
I moved the trackpad over and it took care of my problem immediately.
It was comforting to learn that Malware on a Mac is in fact still rare and that it is unlikely that someone would hack into your computer to 'remote control' your machine and be obvious about it.
No ghost in the machine. Trackpad is incredibly sensiitive I've learned.
Share the knowledge!
Blessings!
Thank you so much JerryBirdwell, that little trick was the first thing I tried and its working again! Not 100%, I would say more like 95%, but I can go back to using my laptop without it throwing some epileptic fit everytime I open it up! Much appreciated!
