Using the proper syntax in Pages helps. Apparently it doesn't know that port 5005 (or 5006 for https) is the right port. You have to tell it specifically like this:
On a local network:
On a remote network (assuming a DynDNS address):
https://your-address-at.dyndns.org:5006
Note that http uses port 5005 and https uses port 5006. If your default ports are different, use the right port number.
I reported this as a bug to Apple today. They either need to fix the syntax or correct the documentation.
