Compatibility between MAC excel and windows excel

If I create an excel document on my mac, how do I "save" it so that when I send it to someone using microsoft windows, the receiver can open it?

desktop, Mac OS X (10.6.1)

Hi and welcome to Discussions,

in general since Excel is not an Apple product but a Microsoft product it is best to use their own Support Forum here: http://www.officeformac.com/productforums/

Personally I would use the "Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP" format, also known as ".xls" for exchange between Mac and Windows.
