Address Book won't save changes to Note field

I use the Notes field quite a bit to keep track of calls to many contacts; simple notations like "called 21/09, left message". Recently, I noticed that a notation I was SURE I had made was not there. Experiments show that additions to the Notes field appear to be fine, but when I leave the contact and come back to it, the changes are GONE. (Text entered a week or a month ago is still there, though.) Deletions from Notes are saved just fine. All changes, additions & deletions to other fields in Address Book are also saved normally.
Could I be reaching a limit of how much info can be stored? Is there a separate allotment of memory for the Notes than for the database info?

I have this problem, too. It drives me crazy. The work around is to create a completely new contact and copy all the old info into the new one, and then type in your changed notes field. But this is VERY time consuming. It doesn't happen with every contact, but it happens enough that I'm now writing in about this. Does Apple read these forums? Is this a known issue? How do we log a bug?

I found a new workaround that has last (so far) for several days now. I made a backup of all my contacts (Export>>Address Book Archive), then deleted EVERYONE from my Address Book and Quit. I re-launched my empty Address Book and restored the data from the backup. The Notes area is behaving again. Maybe this is Address Book's idea of a re-boot?

I have exactly the same problem and it is new. When I created an export today of my 926 cards, the file size was 35.4 MB (32.553.569 Byte). I don't understand the file size either, it's only text for goodness sake! Maybe it really is a file size issue. I am quite forgetful so I keep all sorts of notes and it is nothing short of a disaster if I can't rely on the Mac to remember what I might forget! Exporting deleting and reimporting seems to fix it but now I don't trust it any more. What is the problem? Will it reoccur when I am not paying attention?

My boss is having the same problem with his Macbook Pro running 10.6.4

I watched him type into the comments field of one of his contacts in Address Book. When he pressed APPLE + S [SAVE] the new text he had entered just disappeared.

I gave him the workaround from above (create a new contact) but obviously this is only a band-aid solution.
