Lost my Desktop Icons

After installing today's security update, I have lost my desktop icons. All hard drives and desktop alias have gone, though they are still in the right folders.

What's the fix?

Thanks.

To add an alias to the desktop first right click (ctrl click) on the item you want to make an alias to. Scroll down the popup list and select make alias. Drag that alias to the desktop and you are all set.

Regarding hard-drives you can within Finder selected the

Finder menu - Preferences... - general

and choose what type of drives you want to appear on your desktop.

Hope this helps.
