Calculating Changes

I back up to a netdisk. It has been working well for a year. Now, after a two week trip, Time Machine has been in a “Calculating Changes” mode. It has been four days, so I know something is wrong.

But what???

Disk is a Western Digital MyBook World Edition, connected in this case directly by wired cat5.

The log via the indicated widget after eight hours is:

This is saying that your NAS doesn't support some of the requirements of Time Machine on Snow Leopard. See if WD has a software/firmware update for it.

Disk utility indicates that the source HD needs to be repaired.

See #6 in Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks.

Also do the things in #D2 of Time Machine - Troubleshooting (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).
