Extend ad hoc network with AirPort Extreme card

I didn't see anywhere that specifically mentioned the card itself, so I'm asking here.

I'm trying to create an ad hoc network from my work machine to my laptop via the airport card to share an internet connection to work in another room. Unfortunately the signal strength is a little on the weak side. Is there any way to boost the broadcast signal from the card?
