camera not working

I just got a brand new ipod touch & used it for the first time yesterday. The camera was working perfectly fine until I tried to facetime. Now the camera is not working and looks like the shutter is "closed" like right after you take a picture. Any advice?

Have you tried http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430 ?

Powering completely off and then restarting has cleared a couple of unrelated quirks for me.

Does this help you: http://www.apple.com/support/ipodtouch/troubleshooting/ ?

is this a hardware malfunction?

An Apple Service Technician has the tools, test equipment, and technical documentation needed to answer you question authoritatively.

If you still need help, you could ask "Express Lane" http://expresslane.apple.com/
