I just bought a netgear WNDA 3100 v2 and cannot get it to connect properly to my airport extreme 802.11n. It shows good connection, but is not being assigned an IP address. Netgear support is horrific. I know this should have a simple solution, but cannot figure it out. I have WPA security. I can connect to the internet using a neighbors unsecured internet, but cannot connect to my airport. Please.... any ideas?
What do you want the Netgear to do on your network?
It is highly unlikely that it will be compatible with the AirPort Extreme if you are trying to "extend" or "repeat" the wireless signal from the AirPort Extreme. Is that what you are trying to do?
No. I also have a PC running XP pro that does not have a wireless card. I was told this usb adapter would work to allow me access to my router. I am trying to gain access for my local network (printer) and for the internet. through the attached modem.
Suggest that you temporarily turn off the security on the AirPort Extreme to verify that you can connect that way. If you can, then you know it is a compatibility issue on the security settings between Netgear and Apple.
AirPort Utility > Manual Setup
Click the Wireless icon to access the settings for the AirPort Extreme
Once you have verified that the Netgear will connect using no security, you have a choice of two WPA settings on the AirPort Extreme:
WPA/WPA2 Personal and WPA2 Personal. Try both to see if you can find a compatible setting with the Netgear adapter.
