Does any one know of an internal Blu-Ray burner which is compatible with Mac Pro?

LiteOn tell me their products are not cmpatable.

Hi gogiangigo,

I looked in the archives and found a reference to internal Blu-Ray burners which are compatible with Mac Pro.

Choose Pioneer Blu-Ray BDR-205 which Amazon will deliver on Tuesday.

LG Super Multi Blue OEM is also suitable for Mac Pro but was not available from Amazon.

The USA OWC site is very useful.

So ,hopefully using Toast 10 I will be able to write Blu-Ray discs.

Do you think I should retain the original DvD writer in addition to the Blu-Ray burner?

I suppose Toast will give an option on which burner to use.

Many thanks for your help.

Regards,

Michael.

I think all blu ray burners will burn just about any kind of round disk: CD, DVD +/-, re-writable media ad so on.

The specs on the machines give you an idea of what they can burn. I know my LG internal BR burner does all flavors of cd, dvd, and BR disk including re-writable disks.

So there is a blu laser and a red laser in these machines afaik.

Global Hiccup,

LG and Pioneer Blu -ray burners.

They do not appear to be compatible with a Mac Pro.Mac Pro has two terminals on the wiring but the two burners in question have only one terminal.
The OWC site states they are compatible with Mac Pro but LG and Pioneer tell me they are not combatible with a Mac Pro.

Perhaps some body can clarify the problem.

Have returned them to Amazon.

Michael.
