Has Anyone Painted Their Macbook Pro?

Hey I been toying with the idea of painting my macbook pro in a cool Dukes Of Hazzard orange color with an 01 sticker by the Mac apple logo on top. I see online theres places that do it for $400 which is way out of my price range so was wondering if spray painting it would cause alot of harm. Would I have to tape out the keyboard area so it doesnt get in machine and if I were to paint the keys themself also would I have to take them off and do it one by one?

The Speck site seems to be working now. You might want to consider getting a Speck case and painting that instead.

The MBP skin is anodized aluminum. If you decide you want to try painting it directly, you might need to use a zinc chromate primer to get the paint to adhere.

Paint doesn't always like to stick to aluminum. I'd suggest practicing on a cheap aluminum cookie sheet first to test out your technique.

Good luck!

Hi there!

BB's animated sign is the real deal which OP is willing to get, spray that out! 🙂

If you are really taking on the painting job, you do not want to do that with assembled machine, take all parts apart. I would look for an electrolytic paint supplier for a solution.

Good painting, cheers, K.
