Lost all purchased music after plugging into new laptop.

Ive had my iphone for over a year and have for the 1st time plugged into itunes to download and update my phone with the new software, my old laptop (the one I originally sync'd my phone with) does not work anymore and hasn't for a while, hence downloading a new itunes.
after plugging my phone in to sync, I have realised it has wiped all my purchased itunes music, hundreds of songs. Is there anyway i can get all these back? as I see it I bought them, so they are mine to have on my phone and shouldn't be able to be taken away from me.

Please help.
Thanks.

Did you transfer this purchased content on your phone to your itunes library? The itunes content sync is one way: computer to phone. For purchased content directly on your phone, you have to File>Transfer Purchases with your phone connected, itunes running. If you didn't transfer these purchases, that's why the were deleted from your phone. Contact itunes support, explain what happened, ask them to add this content to your download queue, be nice as content like music & ringtones is normally a one-time download:

Just found this and it really helped me, luckily my music wasnt totally gone, just lost in transition somewhere lol
thanks.

This didn't happen without your approval.

In regards to iTunes content, an iPhone can be sync with an iTunes library on a single computer only and photos can be transferred from a single computer only. When transferring iTunes content and photos from another computer, all Tunes content and photos transferred from a different computer will be erased from the iPhone first with a warning message provided indicating this will occur which must be approved.

Your iTunes library, especially all iTunes content purchased from the iTunes store should be included with your computer's backup along with all other important data stored on your computer's hard drive such as documents, photos, etc. stored on an external drive or some other external media used for backup purposes only. Apple/iTunes provides a warning message from time to time after purchasing music from the iTunes store that you should backup your purchased content and do you want to backup your purchased content now.

The iPhone is not designed or intended to be a backup storage device. iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but you ignored the warning message regarding your iPhone being synced with iTunes on another computer and if you proceed all iTunes content on your iPhone will be erased.

If you don't have a backup and you can't access the hard drive on your old laptop to extract your iTunes library on your old laptop, you can try contacting iTunes customer service explaining what happen and to request being able to re-download your purchased music, but Apple is not obligated to do so. It is your responsibility to include all iTunes content purchased from the iTunes store with your computer's backup along with all other important data.

All the itunes music was purchased via my phone, not my pc so there is no backup of it on my hard drive, the only time my phone has ever been plugged into a pc was the day i bought it a year ago, as my laptop broke 5days later, after buying a new laptop i never bothered to download another itunes until now as i wanted to start buying new apps which needed the software update.
so being told that i needed to "transfer all purchased data" is really what i needed to do, but didnt realise this at the time.
when i got the pop up message saying all music will be erased i obviously didnt go ahead with this therefore clicked "do not sync" then to find my music had disappeared anyway.
Clearly hadnt totally gone as its now all back after pressing "transfer all purchased data"

thanks though.
