Dec 28, 2010 3:02 AM in response to unblowupable5by GustavoPi,Couldn't figure out what is the version of my system and what is the latest one. I'd made an upgrade to 2.1.7 using pacifist trying to fix a bug (I'll post my own topic). As I read, it should be in System Preferences (where is it).
This is kind soft that should be updated frequently because there is allways something new about multimedia. My FronRow doesn't play mkv files (it's now very popular) and some other formats doesn't play audio.
You pick an small app made by students in sourceforge and it plays more media with more resurces... but I still like Front Row a lot, hope Apple give us some credit. -
Dec 28, 2010 3:55 PM in response to unblowupable5by Daniel Couture,I have version 1.1 install on my iMac 10.6.5 and I have tried to update to version 2.1.7 with no success.
I keep getting a message "Front Row Update can't be installed on this disk. This software update is not required"
Any idea how to fix?

Dec 30, 2010 8:06 PM in response to Daniel Coutureby Michael Paine,The Front Row in your Applications folder is just a link to another Front Row buried somewhere in OS X. It will always show version 1.1. My understanding is that the real Front Row can only be updated as part of an OS X update. The true version number is displayed from a menu when Front Row is running. -

Jan 21, 2011 7:16 PM in response to Michael Paineby humorzo,Front Row itself, the application, is in /System/Library/CoreServices. Do a Get Info (Command-I) on that app and you will see its true version. -
