iTunes duplicates

I have multiple duplicates in my iTunes library. Is there a way to delete all the duplicates at once, and why did I get all the duplicates in the first place

Yes, I need to know, too. I have uninstalled iTunes 2x and installed 3x (along w/quicktime, etc.) and still the duplicates are there. With my dupes, one copy says "the original could not be found" and there's an ⚠ mark in the first column beside the dead copy. It's driving me nuts because I have huge number of tunes and don't have a week to delete every. single. dupe. If I could light up all the ⚠ marks in the first column and select/delete them that would be ideal.

Is it because I used Windoze Media Player? And do I have to delete the library from that program? Boy, what a PITA this is becoming...
