iTunes 10 not getting CD track names

Hi,

When I insert a CD I just get "Audio CD" and "Track 01" etc... Automatically retrieve track names from internet is checked and Advanced>Get track names does not work either. Internet connection is fine.

I'm on a Win XP machine using iTunes 10.0.1.22 at the moment.

Suggestions?

Thanks!

I had exactly the same problem.

I was finally able to get track names by first inserting a CD, selcting HELP from the top menu, then selecting RUN DIAGNOSTICS, I selected NETWORK CONNECTIVITY TESTS and CD/DVD DRIVE TEST. After that was complete and all ok, I closed that dialogue box. I then right clicked on the CD under DEVICES and selected GET TRACK INFORMATION and all of the CD and track info apeared. CDs I have imported since, have had no problem with.

Hope this works for some of you too!!!

I've been having this problem for some weeks too, and the cure outlined in Nigel-123's reply above worked for me. But just to be clear, the repair option I eventually got to work was selected from the option available via a new download on the iTunes web site. I tried "repair" in the windows 7 control panel, and that did not work, but the other one did. Hope this helps.

I continue to not be able to download cd track names. I have tried repairing Itunes in the Add/Remove Hardware portion of Control Panel, I have tried removing some of the filters in the registry, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Itunes 10.1.0.54. all with no success. Whenever I hit "get track names" I get this error message:

An error occured in the query subsystem. Any ideas pleeeeeeeeease?!

Had the same problem. Tried reinstalling iTunes, removing CD config files etc to no avail. Based on the above comment and my previous suspicions, tried disconnecting from my Vodafone Mobile Broadband and tethered my iPhone instead (T-Mobile). Was then able to receive track names perfectly. I infer that Vodafone is blocking Gracenote somehow, e.g. some port is restricted, but I can't be certain. I can't test my MiFi via T-Mobile as it's a micro SIM. However my housemate has the same problem on her Windows laptop and she also has Vodafone Mobile. Hope that helps someone.
