Text to shape

Hi everybody

I would like to know if it´s possible to convert a text to a shape in Motion. I´ve tried a lot of things but it seems that it´s not possible at all. Any suggestions?
I would like to make an outline text, convert it to shapes and then use the write-on behavior to make this text draw itself.

hi,

dont think you can convert text to shape, but what you could do is:

create the outline text and then draw a rough pen tool line over it following the outline. Apply this as an image mask to the text (or the layer it is in) and then use the write on behaviour on the mask. Bit more time consuming, bt It'll work.

Easy to do in After Effects, especially if you can drive Illustrator, but it's still tedious.
T and L are easy but glyphs that have counters or weeds like O and B, present their own issues.

Have you tried this Illustrator -> Motion shape script:

I've not used it, but it came to mind when reading the replies. Hope it helps, if you have Illustrator. Sorry to point to another tool when you asked about Motion...

Doesn´t seem to work because the text splines resulting with Illustrator (after converting text to shapes) are composed or something like that (I´m using the spanish version of Illustrator and it´s not a software that a use a lot...).
