I saw some people said they have the same issue that is the shutter closed and cannot make any move.
this issue happened when I trying to switch the back camera to front camera.
So I do not even know if my front camera works
Same problem here. The camera was the first thing I wanted to checkout and lasted literally 30 seconds before freezing and hasn't worked since. I've upgraded, I've restored I've, done a hard reset nothing seems to work. I'm taking it back to demand a new one.
I made an appointment and had my ipod replaced for free.
I also noticed there was slight bit of light leak on the right edge of the front screen. I could almost see between the seam. not sure if this was related or not. It's the area on the opposite side of the volume buttons.
New ipod is working just fine, no light leak on the screen either.
Has anyone gotten an answer from Apple besides having to just return for a new model? I'm having the same problems with mine, although when I do a factory restore the back facing camera (away from me) works just fine. However, when I switch to the front facing camera the image on screen freezes and then I am unable to get any part of the camera to work again.
The only way that I can get anything to work again is to do another factory restore and start the whole process over. It seems interesting to me that it works right up until I switch the camera over.
The first week that I had the iPod everything worked great...then the camera problems started. I must admit that I'm a little frustrated to have to deal with a "broken" iPod after only a week of little use.
Thanks and I hope that someone is figuring something out.
I have the same problem I Rested all my settings and it gave my back camera back I went back to 4.1 and the front camera still didn't work so then I tired 4.2 then 4.2.1 firmware and neither worked I'm soo mad. I closed all my apps in the background and tired opening and s didn't work and if I try switching to the front camera it freezes on the shatter screen and I cnt switch back between cameras so wen u reset ur iPod and open it up it seachs throw the cameras and finds the one that works because wen I got my iPod a 2 or 3 days after it came out I opened the camera app and the front facing camera should/ did open up first for me and it worked and it should wen I reset bu it dnt .. Soo please help if anyone knows please send me a email and how to fix it if I dnt have a apple care plan warranty on my iPod touch.. Thxxx
I have the same exact problem. After a few hours of removing my ipod from the package I realized than the camera quality was poor as compared to other ipods of the same model nevertheless took a few pictures and I was successful. After this I tried switching the front view with the rear view and the view of the camera stuck and after a few seconds it returned to normal. A few hours after this every time I started the application the shutter would not open. This greatly infuriated me because this was a brand new ipod. I made several attempts to resolve the problem such as restoring the ipod and turning it off and on but all my attempts were futile.
The issue started to me when I had difficulty getting through to someone on Face time. Shutter jammed and that was it. Met up with person gotthem to dial me on Face Time - screen opened and now the shutter on my camera works again!!!!
i reset all my settings and it worked again but if i try and use the front camera i the whole thing doesnt work and it just freezes up. it only started happening to me when i downloaded the skype app:/
This also happened to me. I tried to use the camera, and it was the like shutter things before the camera shows. I reset it multiple times and i can get the back camera to work, but whenever i try to do the one on the front it freezes up and then i have to start all over again.
