iPhone 4 Home button issue...

I have tried to read on here and find out if anyone is having any home button issues but I can't seem to find anyone with the issue I am having. When I press my home button it works about 95% of the time. However, about 5-10 times a day it will not register the push at all and I have to push it again and it works. It's not something that really bothers me its just rather annoying. Anyone know anything about this? Also, has anyone noticed when you do push the home button it takes just a couple more seconds to close the app than the older iPhones? I have a 3G still and when I push the home button it instantly goes to the home page. Its just a little delayed with the IP4. I have compared it several times. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if its all just my phone because I haven't been able to compare my IP4 to anyone else's. I'm just wondering if all of this is any reason at all to get my phone replaced. I'm thinking it's not at all but I am just wondering who all else is having a problem or noticing a delay. I don't have any other issues with my phone. Just the home button. & if it helps any I have had my phone since day 1 of launch. I pre-ordered it.

I sent my iPod Touch 3G with the same issue to Apple, but today they told me that they can not reporduce the problem. Nevertheless, I KNOW that the problem exists?! The next Apple store is about 300km away and no alternative for me. Should I send it again or what? Is this what they call customer service?

Fairly certain this is a hardware problem. I experienced the same issue and the button behavior got progressively worse. Restored from backup, restored as new...same result.

Brought my phone to the Apple Store yesterday and was able to demonstrate the issue to the tech. He took my phone in the back, came back out five minutes later with a new phone and I was on my way.

No issues at this point with the new phone.

I think you'll find Apple Care very accommodating. I live about 25 miles from the Apple Store and still chose to call them to avoid the hassle. Another point is that I had already gone to the Apple Store and they would not replace the iPhone unless I could reproduce the behavior which of course is very hard to do with this type of problem.

No you don't have to have Apple Care if you are within your 1 year warranty. Although there are some perks to having it other than the extra year of warranty and free phone support after the initial 90 days. Here in the U.S. at least if you have Apple Care they don't charge you the $29 shipping exchange fee if you have Apple Care.

Other than that you are still covered under the one year warranty so give them a buzz and see if they can help you out.

Okay it's been six days since I've received my new replacement iPhone. I have not once experienced the wonky home button issue. I did a restore on the new iPhone so everything that was on my old one is now on the new one. This leads me to believe that it was indeed a hardware issue. We'll see how it goes, but so far so good. What a relief it is not to have this issue!
