iPhone 4 Home button issue...

I have tried to read on here and find out if anyone is having any home button issues but I can't seem to find anyone with the issue I am having. When I press my home button it works about 95% of the time. However, about 5-10 times a day it will not register the push at all and I have to push it again and it works. It's not something that really bothers me its just rather annoying. Anyone know anything about this? Also, has anyone noticed when you do push the home button it takes just a couple more seconds to close the app than the older iPhones? I have a 3G still and when I push the home button it instantly goes to the home page. Its just a little delayed with the IP4. I have compared it several times. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if its all just my phone because I haven't been able to compare my IP4 to anyone else's. I'm just wondering if all of this is any reason at all to get my phone replaced. I'm thinking it's not at all but I am just wondering who all else is having a problem or noticing a delay. I don't have any other issues with my phone. Just the home button. & if it helps any I have had my phone since day 1 of launch. I pre-ordered it.

I have just noticed that the home button issue still persist in version 4.3, at least in GM version 😟

I replaced mine over a month ago and it's still working as expected. I haven't changed my usage patterns much (other than maybe using multitasking a lot more!)

I`ve got the same problem here.Bought the phone from Canada.When i came back to China.it happened.The genius in retail store told me to get it repaired back to Canada. That`s not going to happen in at least a year. What should i do?Can`t apple just repaired it for me in China? That sucked~

NO, it is NOT a software issue.

CONCLUSION : It is a hardware issue.

SOLUTION : Get replacement.

HOW : 1) Schedule appointment at Genius bar, free.
2) Call Apple Care line. $29 without AppleCare plan, Free with AppleCare.

thx 4 u quick reply.The only problem is I can`t go back to Canada now.If i can get it fixed in China,that will save me a lot of trouble.But I am not sure I can get that.I called the sevice and they told me for sure that I can. But i got different answers in retail store.

I agree that it's a hardware problem! Reason? I've used two iPhone 4s since I had the home button problem. The first was an AT&T replacement, the second is the Verizon version, which I'm currently using. Neither has given me the home button problem, and both were backed up from the iPhone that had the problem.

Agreed. It is most-definitely a hardware issue at this point. My replacement phone came on Friday and I haven't had a problem with it. Had I been using my previous phone, it would have shown the non-responsiveness already -- even after a full factory wipe, and set up as a new phone.

My home button was most definitely defective. Had I not had the Applecare warranty on it, it would have cost me $30.00 to do it through Applecare instead of going to the not-so-Genius bar.

I would have agreed it was a hardware issue, but I had my phone replaced for this issue and my replacement phone is still having the issue. As with a software issue, iOS 4.3's launch today didn't fix it either, just caused more headaches.

Been to Digi also last month... they change a refurbished set.. and everything works fine for 1 month.

Now the same problem happen again.. so i really dunno is software or hardware problem.

Went to digi to change again.. and he say there is no problem with the home button. so refuse to change.

I going to log a complain to Digi again.

I have the same problem, but I noticed it is only when I press the home button one the bottom under the square with my finger nail. If you press directly on the square in the center it makes a more distinct clicking noise and it works. I believe it is just wear and tear and is normal over time.

Hi, I updated to ios 4.3 yesterday and started having this same problem right away!!
It was working fine before i updated. how is that possible??
It definitely looks like hardware problem, but how come it never happenend before??

But I already had this with 4.2.1.
The Button does what it likes to do.:-(
