iPhone 4 Home button issue...

I have tried to read on here and find out if anyone is having any home button issues but I can't seem to find anyone with the issue I am having. When I press my home button it works about 95% of the time. However, about 5-10 times a day it will not register the push at all and I have to push it again and it works. It's not something that really bothers me its just rather annoying. Anyone know anything about this? Also, has anyone noticed when you do push the home button it takes just a couple more seconds to close the app than the older iPhones? I have a 3G still and when I push the home button it instantly goes to the home page. Its just a little delayed with the IP4. I have compared it several times. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if its all just my phone because I haven't been able to compare my IP4 to anyone else's. I'm just wondering if all of this is any reason at all to get my phone replaced. I'm thinking it's not at all but I am just wondering who all else is having a problem or noticing a delay. I don't have any other issues with my phone. Just the home button. & if it helps any I have had my phone since day 1 of launch. I pre-ordered it.

This might do the trick
1- Open any app
2- hold the power button till the ' slide to power off ' appears

3- then press and hold your home button ( do not press both of the buttons at the same time )
4- your app will close and your home button will be brand new 🙂

how to close an app (or even use your home button's functions) when your home button isnt working :
Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Assisitive touch -> enable assistive touch -> create a gesture -> and a white circle ( that will function as your home button) wiil appear on your screen

I think it's appalling that Apple refuses to fix the defective sleep-wake button on my iPhone 4 unless I pay $150. Unbelievable. It had a shelf life of 14 months? And even though Apple routinely replaces iPhones 4's with this defect when they're still within warranty (see above), those of us who are just outside the warranty period, we're supposed to accept that the phone functioned properly for barely a year? When will Apple take responsibility for what -- it seems pretty clear -- is an apparent manufacturing defect? And why isn't Apple concerned that telling longtime loyal customers to take a hike in this kind of situation will eventually turn the customers away and put a dent in the company's profits?

Any "fix" that involves holding the home button down or wiggling the cable or blowing air into it is going to seem to fix it initially, because the home button has worn out and these things seem to reconnect it temporarlily. When my home button stops working I press it really hard, out of frustration, and it comes back for a while. You don't need to be in an app while pressing the power off button and standing on one leg, that's just someone trying to invent a fix.

I'm guessing we're all heavy users of the iphone? I must have pressed the home button 500,000 times over the last 14 months. Yes it's annoying that we've worn it out, but things wear out. Like shoes and jeans and the C on my keyboard. Apple can't do anything about that. There's no point saying it's only lasted a year, because it comes down to how much you've use it. If you'd have used it half as much it'd probably last twice as long.

Sorry but I totally disagree with you. My last phone was a nokia(n95 8gb) I heavily used it for about 3-4 years and maybe I pressed its buttons, especially the navigation button 99999999999 times. It didnt even gave out once. They are in the exact same condition since I first bought it. Also let me phrase that I love playing games on the go. "Button wears out" is not an excuse for a brand like apple. Buttons should not wear out within a year. Sorry but this iphone is poorly built. The next iphone should have a touch operated home button like its screen.

Guys seriously all that does is calibrate the sensitivity of how the button is pressed. If your iPhone is playing up take it back. I personally wish I'd never got iphone4 I think it's cheaply made and no where near as good as 3GS in terms of durability I'm on my 2nd one and home button actually felt worse and when I asked I was given a refurb unit despite mine only being 3 weeks old when I swapped it last year and bought in same apple store. Not happy and I'm going android. Even jail breaking can't entice me to stay apple anymore. I give up :)
