Q: iPhone 4 Home button issue...

I have tried to read on here and find out if anyone is having any home button issues but I can't seem to find anyone with the issue I am having. When I press my home button it works about 95% of the time. However, about 5-10 times a day it will not register the push at all and I have to push it again and it works. It's not something that really bothers me its just rather annoying. Anyone know anything about this? Also, has anyone noticed when you do push the home button it takes just a couple more seconds to close the app than the older iPhones? I have a 3G still and when I push the home button it instantly goes to the home page. Its just a little delayed with the IP4. I have compared it several times. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if its all just my phone because I haven't been able to compare my IP4 to anyone else's. I'm just wondering if all of this is any reason at all to get my phone replaced. I'm thinking it's not at all but I am just wondering who all else is having a problem or noticing a delay. I don't have any other issues with my phone. Just the home button. & if it helps any I have had my phone since day 1 of launch. I pre-ordered it.

OK. I went to Genius bar and the genius initially was reluctant as he said, he can't reproduce the issue but I told him that it is now happening at random times and is happening at least once a day. It is annoying and when it happens, I can't even make emergency calls! He then replaced the phone for me. It is working OK, has iOS 4.3. I hope it keeps working fine without problems.

My next phone will certainly not be an iPhone. And now I am putting off buying ipad2 until I don't see any new problems reported by customers.

I wish mine only happened once a day, I can't avoid having the issue within a couple minutes of turning it on in the morning. It's been better with 4.3.1 but it depends on what apps I open, oddly the native Weather app seems to be a prime offender.

Has anyone updated to 4.3.2 and seen any performance improvements with the home button? I saw that they released it earlier today but I'm at work so I can update until I get home.

I would not update to new firmware unless I have to... You can't go back to previous version.

Three of my colleagues had/has occasional home button issues. One has bluetooth issue as well and two told me they have wifi problems. All have iPhone 4s.
I can't believe Apple products can be so buggy and problematic.

I have the same problem with iphone 4 4.3.2.. but the issue is so random and intermittent i can't replicate/reproduce it consistently. Do ya guys know if i went in to the apple store they'd give me a new in box phone? and do i bring just the phone, or everything?

I had this issue since the upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 until a few days...

after a "set as new iPhone" restore in DFU mode, it´s gone (4 days).

I restored my iPhone before as new, but it was never gone. now with 4.3.2 it is. what the ****???

let´s knock on wood... I will write my future experiences in a few days.

    hope it stay´s this way

I still have the same problem since ios 4.2!

I think i`ll try another factory reset....

    @svenfromberlin

Is it gone on your device?

yes it is! i had a problem two days ago, but that was "dirt". I use some window cleaner on a microfiber wipe and rub the homebutton, then the dirt was gone and everything is fine again.

the "homebutton-bug" that we talk about, is gone since my restore

Okay I'm on 4.3.2 and have intermittent home button problems. Can you explain exactly how to "restore as new" in DFU mode, then load the current iphone backup to get back to normal.

I have noticed periodic Home Button issues.  Mainly, the iPhone 4 misinterpreting a double click as a single click, BUT... what I have noticed more frequently since the 4.3.2 upgrade is a longer delay when I launch the "Settings"  App.  Even when I have shut down all background apps and cleared memory, I still get a blank white screen for sometimes 4 seconds (an eternity in iPhone terms) before the Settings panel appears.
