iPhone 4 Home button issue...

I have tried to read on here and find out if anyone is having any home button issues but I can't seem to find anyone with the issue I am having. When I press my home button it works about 95% of the time. However, about 5-10 times a day it will not register the push at all and I have to push it again and it works. It's not something that really bothers me its just rather annoying. Anyone know anything about this? Also, has anyone noticed when you do push the home button it takes just a couple more seconds to close the app than the older iPhones? I have a 3G still and when I push the home button it instantly goes to the home page. Its just a little delayed with the IP4. I have compared it several times. Does anyone else have this issue? I'm wondering if its all just my phone because I haven't been able to compare my IP4 to anyone else's. I'm just wondering if all of this is any reason at all to get my phone replaced. I'm thinking it's not at all but I am just wondering who all else is having a problem or noticing a delay. I don't have any other issues with my phone. Just the home button. & if it helps any I have had my phone since day 1 of launch. I pre-ordered it.

I was going to risk using white spirit, or rubbing alcohol as it's called in the USA. But saw someone just used their glasses cleaner i.e. the little cloth use to clean your spectacles (or one meant to clean your iPad screen). I switched off iPad, then used the cloth to rub the home button round and round, and pushing down. Bingo! Job done. And no risk of damage with white spirit, surgical spirit, rubbing alcohol- Whatever! Great! Thanks all.

Add me to the list. It wasn't a problem when I first got the phone back in June. I noticed it within the past couple of weeks, around the time iOS 4.1 was released. It seems like it's gradually getting worse, but it's hard to tell. Rebooting the phone sometimes helps temporarily, but the problem comes back every time. I've had every model of the iPhone (I upgrade every year), and I've never had this problem. That's why I think it's software-related. I could tolerate it better if I knew a fix is on the way.

Hi guys,
I experiencing the same problem with Iphone 4 with OS4.1, however before my update it started. It does not occurs frequent, but it is annoying.
95% is normal, but 5% when I pressed the "home button" once and it registered 2 click and the background apps pop out. I also experienced when I clicked once and no responses at times.

I am wondering it is a hardware or software issues, and is Apple is looking into the matter.

I had the same problem straight out of the box on launch day. It turned out that the top part of my home button worked almost 0% of the time while the bottom part of my home button worked 100% of the time. So, when I pushed it right in the middle like normal it worked sometimes and didn't other times. Just a dead spot in the upper part of the button. I took it to the Apple Store and they took it in back to try to fix it but couldn't in the end and they just gave me a brand new one. The new one works flawlessly.
