No Install/Uninstall iTunes - Error 1316 & - 1603
Since the restore, iTunes has not functioned. I uninstalled it, but there are still vestigial files remaining, including things like iTunes Helper. I tried to run iTunes Helper, thinking it might (gasp) help me, but it wouldn't run.
My problem is, when I try to install iTunes from the disc, I am only given two options: Repair or Uninstall (no install option). When I choose Repair, it fails without a definite explanation. When I choose Uninstall, it consistently gives me two error messages:
Error 1316: A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file C:\Windows\Installer\iTunes.msi
Error -1603: Fatal error during installation. Consult Windows Installer Help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
Since I don't know what MSDN is, I searched my computer for Msi.chm, but it is nonexistant. I also checked further and found that there is no Installer folder in the Windows directory. I thought downloading some files might help, in case my computer "lost" some. I searched MicroSoft, and while I did not find Msi.chm, I found Windows Installer. I installed it, but iTunes acts exactly the same.
So basically I need to know whether iTunes will ever work on my computer again, and if so, what I need to do to accomplish that. I also need to know why those other iTunes files remain even after uninstallation, and whether I can delete them. They include:
"{24687BD9-657A-42C0-83BF-6674644136A8}", "iTunesHelper.Resources", "iTunes(2).Resources", "About iTunes.rtf", "en.lproj", "ituneshelper", and so on.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
