Accessing my iTunes library with iPhone/iPad over wifi

Does anyone think Apple is ever going to allow all of us with iPhones & ipads to stream our iTunes library to these devices? Wouldn't it be nice? Wouldn't it be cool? It seems like such a long over due logical step. But I never hear anybody talking about it, maybe it's not as cool as I've been thinking?

I have this huge library I've built up over the years. This great remote device (iPad, iPhone), but Apple won't let me access it. Off limits. No trespassing.

Anybody have any passions on this?

I'm not so sure Remote Buddy is going to allow me to play my iTunes library through my iPhone. When I say "play through my iPhone," I mean I wirelessly access my iTunes library and play the music through the iPhone speakers or headphone. It seems Remote Buddy is more like using your iPhone to manipulate software on your computer, including iTunes. I could be wrong but after having fairly looked it over that's the impression I'm getting.

I still don't see their iPhone app. I did download their application that installs on the computer. That's as far as I've gotten with it.

Plex is unclear on how to setup and configure. Plus the app takes up your whole screen.

There has to be an app that can read from your iTunes library and stream over the internet.

HamachiX does this GREAT from computer to computer over the internet..with almost no configuration...but has yet to connect to Mobile devices or an app that can connect to Hamachi servers on a mobile device.

I would strongly recommend programmers come up with an mobile app that communicates to HamachiX as a solution from home to mobile services. It's really built right in and ready to go.

That way we can all create our OWN clouds from our own home computers.

This is very simple to do.

  1. iTunes on your computer must remain open.
  2. make sure your itunes library is set up to share.
  3. open up music player on your iphone.
  4. go to the "more" tab
  5. you will see a house icon with a music note that says "shared"
  6. choose your library that appears (remember you must leave itunes open on your compute. your iphone and computer must be on the same network in your home).
  7. you will see your playlist and music.
  8. play from there.
