FaceTime video call fails

FaceTime video call fails

I have tried to use my iPhone4 to make a FaceTime call to a friend who also has an iPhone4 but when I try it says "FaceTime Failed Chris is not available for FaceTime" but I know he is!
Yet when he phones me to connect using FaceTime the FaceTime video connects without a problem.
Any suggestions very welcome!

It's possible that when you call your friend, he isn't connected to WiFi, whereas he is when he calls you. Are you sure he is properly accepting FaceTime when you call?

He is connected to wifi and waiting for me to call. When I try to connect there is a brief noise/ring then it disconnects and up pops the message saying that it has failed

You need to call and try to connect FaceTime to someone else with an iP4, in order to determine if the problem is at your end or your friend's.

If FaceTime fails when you call someone else, try the usual troubleshooting steps: Restart, Reset, Restore.

Please make sure your wifi AP/router is configured to work with facetime. Some ports need to be opened on the firewall (if this is already turned on by your wifi AP/router):

I suggest that you turn on DMZ or enable port forwarding instead of disabling the firewall altogether. Cheers!

This might be due to the first time Facetime activation problem. The facetime may not be properly activated even if you see the button for Facetime is on but there should be a small note underneath that says "waiting for activation" Check that.

Have you solved your problem ? Can you teach me to to fix my FaceTime ?:'( I don't know why mine stopped connecting last night , I use it everyday to call my friend but I don't know what's wrong now it just said call ended
