LPD Printer through IPv6

Hi,

I'm trying to add an IPv6 printer to Mac OS X 10.6.4.
When I try to provide the address on the address line from "Add Printer" utility, it says "Invalid port number". I firstly thought the colon (":") from IPv6 addresses was the problem source, so I tried to use the brackets ("[" … "]") as per recommended by RFCs. Still invalid port number error.

Can Mac OS X print through IPv6 protocol ?
If yes, how ?

NB: I also tried with the last version of Mac OS X 10.5 and faced the same issue.

Thx

I would suggest that you connect to the printer that is configured using IPv6 via the global unicast address. The global unicast address would typically use a DNS name and this would make it easier with the queue configuration, providing the DNS server that supports IPv6 is configured in the Mac. You can then use LPD for the queue, ie lpd:\\printername\queuename
