iPod won't connect to iTunes because of passcode

My iPod turned off due to 20% battery, and when I turned it on it gave me the screen saying I have to connect to iTunes - which I've had before, BUT this time it won't let me connect to iTunes because I have a passcode on my iPod is there a way to either connect to iTunes around this, or can I save my music and videos somehow?? (I just reformated my computer and deleted a bunch of the songs, and haven't backed up my iPod since.. I don't wanna lose it all.. PLEASE help!!

Welcome to Apple Discussions Forum! Good to see you!

This is a very normal "Issue". Basically, to keep people from getting information from stolen iDevices, iTunes requires that you enter your passcode to sync your device.

This is quite simple. With your iDevice connected (or disconnected) simply unlock your iDevice, and enter your passcode on it. With the device unlocked, connect your device to iTunes.

I had the same issue, but the "Fix" is simple.

Hope this helps.

I wish it were that simple - with the connect to itunes screen it won't allow me to insert my password. I can't do anything on the iPod until after it is connected to iTunes, and it can't connect until I put in the password. I know I've had to insert the password, but with that screen on it, it won't do it the normal way. Whats strange is it's now charged and on and connected to wifi, so I can still see fb updates, but nothing else... Strange annoying problem. My family says I just need to reformat, but since I don't have a backup file I'm not in that big of hurry to erase it... =/

Have you tried holding down the power button on the top and sliding the red bar at the top to confirm complete power down. wait a few minutes. then power it back up again. Maybe it just needs to "wake up" or "find its bearings".

If you are able to receive facebook notifications, I'm guessing that you MIGHT not need to connect it to iTunes just yet.

Plug your Touch into a wall power adapter to give it some power without being connected to a computer.

Play around with power/restarting it to see if you can get it to respond before you try to connect it to iTunes. You don't want to restore it unless you've tried everything else.

Let us know what happens.
