I have just received my Apple TV and despite having connected it and my computer to home sharing, I can't access my iTunes library from it.

Please Help

    Update your iTunes to 10.0.1 in system updates. Then follow these instructions.

    Hope that helps..

    I have already followed all the instructions on the home sharing trouble-shooting section of the site, the instruction manual and the link you gave me. My computer is connected to the same network as the Apple TV, they are both on the same Home Sharing account, iTunes is open, however my library still doesn't register on Apple TV.

    I've just received mine today and I've got the same problem and it's frustrating.

    I've updated my iTunes to 10.0.1, read and followed all the instructions and still couldn't get it to see my iTunes library. I've got all my devices on the same network, same iTunes account, my firewall is turned off... and this little black bugger is stil not detecting my iTunes library. However, if I play a song on iTunes and then click on the airtunes icon at the bottom of the window and select "AppleTV" it does play the song on it. But that's about it... nothing else is working as far as home sharing is concerned. I begin to wonder if this is some sort of bug that Apple hasn't quite fixed yet.

    I've got it running with 3 different Macs, the only thing I could suggest comes from an apple support article:

    *Check Firewall Settings*

    If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with other copies of iTunes.

    For Mac OS X 10.5 or later, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:

    * Block all incoming connections
    * Allow only essential services

    If you use another operating system, firewall software, or hardware, check the documentation on how to open TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353.

    It cant be a problem with the firewall, there are two computer in the house and I can stream music through home sharing on both of them, but Apple TV still doesn't want to connect. I'm going to call the support line and ask about it.

    I had the same problem. I updated the Itunes software and then turned off homesharing on my AppleTV and then turned it back on and it saw the library.

    Eventually I got it working. No, it wasn't the firewall. My firewall is turned off. I had to reboot my mac for the second time to get it to work. When you install iTunes 10.0.1 it will ask you to restart the computer for the installation to be completed. Once that's done, reboot your mac one more time and restart your iTunes.

    Ok, so i got it working for about 5 mins, however it only registered one of the computers on the network, and not the one I wanted, while trying to get the second library on, the first on disappeared so im back to square one. Still not sure how i got it working in the first place.

    I am having the same issue, I can access my Mac's home sharing from my iPhone or iPad but not from my Apple TV. Everything uses the last version of their respective software and OS.

    Actually I just did some tests, and Home sharing works with my iPhone and iPad only for few minutes, than vanishes.

    I don'k know if this will help, but for me it was finding my library but none of my songs or videos. Ended up that I needed to have all my songs and vidoes checked before it would pull up my iTunes stuff. Hope this helps.

    I have a similar problem. The Apple TV cannot see either of my 2 computers with itunes. The 2 PCs can share music between them fine. I have upgraded to the latest iTunes and turned off the firewalls on both computer. Everything resides on the same local network that is wired together. Windows XP on one computer, Windows 7 on the other. Apple TV second Gen.

    My ATV2 was working fine this morning. Saw both libraries. I set it to sleep, took my son to school and when I came back, it lost both libraries. Turning off home sharing did nothing. Finally, I unplugged the ATV and it found them again. It really needs a refresh button or something.

    I had this problem yesterday when i got my ATV. I could see my macbook pro's library but not my IMac. To solve it, i rebooted everything, my computer, restarted my routers and apple TV. After that everything works fine. I see both of my libraries correctly.
