Apple TV not finding my library.

I have just received my Apple TV and despite having connected it and my computer to home sharing, I can't access my iTunes library from it.

Please Help

I've just received mine today and I've got the same problem and it's frustrating.

I've updated my iTunes to 10.0.1, read and followed all the instructions and still couldn't get it to see my iTunes library. I've got all my devices on the same network, same iTunes account, my firewall is turned off... and this little black bugger is stil not detecting my iTunes library. However, if I play a song on iTunes and then click on the airtunes icon at the bottom of the window and select "AppleTV" it does play the song on it. But that's about it... nothing else is working as far as home sharing is concerned. I begin to wonder if this is some sort of bug that Apple hasn't quite fixed yet.

HAS ANYONE ACTUALLY GOT IT TO WORK PROPERLY YET?

I've got it running with 3 different Macs, the only thing I could suggest comes from an apple support article:

*Check Firewall Settings*

If you have a firewall enabled in your router or computer, make sure that the firewall is not blocking communication between your computers. Home Sharing uses TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353 to communicate with other copies of iTunes.

For Mac OS X 10.5 or later, you don't have to edit the port addresses, but make sure the firewall in Apple () menu > System Preferences > Security > Firewall are not set to:

* Block all incoming connections
* Allow only essential services

If you use another operating system, firewall software, or hardware, check the documentation on how to open TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353.

Eventually I got it working. No, it wasn't the firewall. My firewall is turned off. I had to reboot my mac for the second time to get it to work. When you install iTunes 10.0.1 it will ask you to restart the computer for the installation to be completed. Once that's done, reboot your mac one more time and restart your iTunes.

I have a similar problem. The Apple TV cannot see either of my 2 computers with itunes. The 2 PCs can share music between them fine. I have upgraded to the latest iTunes and turned off the firewalls on both computer. Everything resides on the same local network that is wired together. Windows XP on one computer, Windows 7 on the other. Apple TV second Gen.
