Pink display... Help?

I've just plugged in my new apple tv only to find it displaying everything with a pink screen. I remember my old apple tv did the same thing via hdmi but there was a video setting that fixed the issue. There doesn't seem to be that option on the new model.

I've tried a different hdmi cable, restarted both my tv and the apple tv, still pink.

Help?

Glen

looks like it is a compatibility issue, how could I have known my tv wasn't support?

I don't think you could have.

Apple is there going to be a fix for this? if I just had the video options of the first apple tv I would be able to get this thing going.

Send feedback, they don't read these posts.

Just received new ATV2 - EXACT same issue as mentioned in original post. I have an ATV1 160GB - never ever had this problem. Reconnected ATV1 - works GREAT. Plug in ATV2: Pink screen. Swapped cables (second cable give white noise) EXCHANGED the ATV2 at Apple Store. Brand New ATV2 - same thing.

Okay, maybe it is the TV. BUT - Something's amiss - Apple TV 1st Gen continues to work FINE. Apple TV2 is BORKED. I want the ATV2 for the Netflix integration.

HELP, Anyone?

I have a Match III Line Philips television and with I setup my Apple TV the background was Pink. I took it and my HDMI cable into an Apple Store and tested it on their television. It worked fine in the Apple Store and therefore I returned it. I like the concept of the Apple TV, but I am not going to buy a new television in order to use it. Is Apple making updates to the Apple TV so it can work with more models?

I too have this problem - blue and pink display - intermittent problem with no systemic or identifiable cause - just does it when it feels like it, usually in the middle of a film. Very annoying. Have posted to Apple Feedback. Have tried to ring the support number - UK one only deals with iphone, so no support really. And from what I can gather from the posts, there are no apparent fixes? I am using 10.6.4, macbook, apple tv2 and sony bravia hd, 32". Anyone help? My hdmi cables are top notch and the tv has never shown any other issues - until this.

I am indeed another user who is experiencing this same issue. I love my Apple TV (having never owned one). I haven't watched many films and thought this would be perfect to introduce me to more movies.

It works great apart from this issue and it's very annoying when an important part of a film shows up and the colours ruin the experience. I am using a Sony Bravia KDL-37S5500

Do you think this is easily sorted with a software update? I don't want to return it, but don't have much choice unless an update appears soon.

I too have the same issue. Sony Bravia HDTV as well, KDL46EX-402. 1080p. I've heard that putting the HDMI profile into Games mode has helped some people with other TVs. Maybe you guys can try that and give feedback. As with everyone else the TV works fine with other devices like the PS3. No doubt this is an Apple glitch. Lets pray a patch is viable and forthcoming! 🙂 It might be a good idea for everyone to post their TVs modem number here in this forum. May help the Apple guys figure it out.

The first time I plugged everything it wasn't working. I tried to unplug and plug again all the HDMI cables without success. Now it's working and it seems to work each and everytime I try. Here's my workaround. My AppleTV is plugged in my Home theater. Each time I open the AppleTV I make sure that its HDMI signal is not going anywhere. My TV is on. My Home theater system as well but I select another source (in my case the Blu-ray player). Then I open the AppleTV. I wait a few seconds to make sure that the AppleTV is sending a signal through the HDMI cable (not sure if this step is absolutely needed but it works this way) then I switch the Home theater to the source of the AppleTV and I get the black screen instead of the pink one. Hope this helps.

I just connected my brand-new apple TV 2 to my Samsung home cinema system and it worked fine until I installed the latest software update from Apple. Since then I constantly get a pink screen. None of the tipps of this thread worked. Nonetheless thanks to everybody.

This post is just to complete the picture of the situation and to encourage Apple to do something.
