TV Show Sorting

Does anyone else have a problem with the new TV Show sorting? I have a bunch of TV shows in iTunes and my Apple TV is treating each individual season as a separate show (and then it doesn't even list them in order). I've had the 1st generation ATV forever and the sorting has always worked fine. Is this a bug, am I missing something, or is this just the new "organization" system?

It is certainly an issue caused by the iTunes update, which it effects how the shows are displayed on the ATV2 but not the ATV1.

If you have not updated iTunes then the shows are in the correct order, whether you have updated the ATV or not.

Cheers

There is no solution at the moment, short of restoring back to the old version of iTunes, but if you look at the other threads on this subject then you will find a number of workarounds which may ease things for a while, until it gets fixed.

I had tried a couple of days ago; dumped the iTunes Library of TV Shows. Imported them again, they were not in the correct order. I then Slected All, and applied the sort. This worked on both of my ATV's...

ARe all your TV Shows correctly titled..? I do that manually, as my shows are not imported via an Apple methodology (ie. I use torrents) Good Luck...

This hint helped me fix an issue I had with Remote on an iPad, Apple TV 3G, iTunes 10.6.

I've got the show name in the fields Show, Artist, Sort Show; the season number in Season; the episode numbers in Episode, Track #; a manual autosequence number in Episode ID, the show title in Name; These fields I left blank: Sort Album, Sort Artist, Sort Album Artist, Sort Composer, Release Date. In the Option Tab/Media Kind select TV Show.

Before this hint the episodes would display in the correct order in Remote on iPad, but when tapping on an episode Apple TV would play a *different* show from the same season eg tap on episode 1, plays episode 12, tap on 2 plays 5. There was a 1 to 1 relation ship, but just not as expected - quite a game to make it play the episode I wanted to.

Anyways selecting Sort Show for all episodes at once seems to have forced an update and fixed my last issue with sorting tv shows.

I think I discovered these rules on my devices (Remote on an iPad, Apple TV 3G, iTunes 10.6):

- Display order within a Season on Remote is episode number

- If Track # is empty Remote creates a hidden list of episodes sorted by name; e.g. user taps on episode #3 on Remote, 3rd entry on invisible alphabethically sorted list is played.

To fix this issue, I just have to enter the same value of the Episode # in Track # in iTunes

I'm having this problem since the update as well. However, I'm not using ATV, only using my iPad. All of this change has happened after updating the iPad and the iTunes... Supremely annoying. I hope this is taken care of ASAP.

All of my episodes are being sorted as a "show" (individually, instead of grouped under the show's title.)

Very bothersome when you have a lot of shows........
