FCP and Ikegami GFCam

Hi all,

I am currently working on an Avid NitrisDX at a new position after working with FCP primarily for the past few years. Despite the high cost of the brand new Avid system, low and behold, it doesn't function very well and seems have to provid a new fatal error message at least one a day for no apparent reason...

Anyways this has led to contemplation of switching over to Apple and FCP, but I am curious to know if anyone has worked with video imported via GF Pak from an Ikegmai GFCam HDS-V10 in FCP?

We just purchased new HD cameras and if the Ikegami format isn't compatabile with FCP, I won't waste my time on a crusade to go Apple.

Thanks for the help,

There's gotta be a better way than third party solutions. I just googled that camera and got:

http://www.ikegami.com/IKEGAMIWEATHERNETWORK.html

"The file format of the Ikegami GFCam helps us a lot because we can wrap and unwrap our files easily, and it is supported by all of our editing software, including Avid and Final Cut Pro."

And then...

http://news.creativecow.net/story/862062

“From an editing standpoint, I really appreciate that I can take the GFPak out of the GFCam, connect it to the computer with a simple USB cable, and then drag-and-drop the files into Final Cut and go,” says Charmaine Lee, Director of Creative Services for KGEB. “Instead of dealing with the typical log-and-transfer process with other cameras, I can move straight to editing.”

So I wonder, does it record direct to Quicktime? I have no experience with that camera, but it should have direct FCP access.
