New Apple TV to non-HMDI... there has to be a way?!

Well, it looks like it should work, but for around $150 bucks I would buy the ATV1 first, since it supports component.

I returned my ATV2 today.
My HDTV is an RPTV from 6 years ago. No HDMI.
Far to expensive to convert digital audio to analog.

I kept my ATV1, which I've had for 3 years. Has component output. Very satisfied.

No connection with the seller, no idea if it works with Apple TV 2, but might be an option:

If you had HDMI you wouldn't need to conver the audio to analogue. I'm simply routing the audio through my tv.

My Sony RP HDTV only has DVI. No HDMI.

All is okay as I have an ATV1, which has component output and RCA audio.

Can't route through TV as audio is digital with HDMI.
My HDTV only takes analog audio.

In Australia I bought a $140 HDMI-> Component Converter from Jaycar Electronics.

Plugged it, adjusted the clamp and a horizontal pixel shift.

Looks and works much better than the ATV1's component output.

That's what I meant. HDMI goes to TV and TV outputs analogue audio to receiver. But you would need an HDMI input and analogue output on the TV

That's my point also. Believe it or not, there are some early adopters of HDTV who bought 6 or so years ago before there was an HDMI standard. The HDTV's are perfectly good, but no digital audio input.
The is a way to convert with a $107. product Gefen and a few others.

Not worth it to me because I already own an ATV1. Almost the same as far as I am concerned.

However, if I had an HDTV with HDMI inputs, I would buy the ATV2 in a heartbeat!

No. It needs to be converted to analog RCA connectors.

I can confirm that the Gefen GTV-DIGAUD-2AAUD Digital-to-Analog audio adapter works for the audio conversion. It saved my bacon as my TV has DVI but no digital audio inputs.

Why wouldn't his suggested option work? The photo he supplied DOES have RCA style plugs. Has anyone tried this solution yet?
