Itunes 10 won't connect to Apple TV with Airplay

JUst hooked up my new APTV2. In itunes there is the little airplay symbol in the bottom right and when i click on it it shows Apple TV as an option, but when I click on it it comes up with a box saying "connecting to Apple tv".

But nothing ever happens, it sits there for a few minutes and then goes away. Same happens if i select multiple speakers and try to tick the check box for apple tv.

My APTV2 4.1.1 would not play audio from iPhone 4 4.2.1 or iTunes 10.1.2 on OSX 10.6.6 but would play video from iTunes and Photos from iPhone 4. I tried restarting my iPhone, Linksys WRT54G router and putting the APTV2 to sleep and woke it up again - problem persisted.

I finally pulled the plug on APTV2 and it worked for me. I am guessing that resetting the APTV2 via the remote (hold down and menu for six seconds) would do the trick too.

This was EXACTLY the information I needed to get iTunes to play over AirPlay to my Apple TV. I've been digging around here and there on and off for three days trying to solve this problem. I was just about to give up when I ran across this post. I figured it was just obscurely bizarre enough to work, and BLAMMO! It did magnificently!

Thanks for cross-posting here. Now if I could just get Hulu Plus on my Apple TV I'd be REALLY happy.

ShaneScott, this worked perfectly for me. THANK YOU!

I finally was able to solve my problem by following the instructions below (pulled from another thread regarding airtunes) to disable IP6 settings in the network. When I did this, I was able to connect to everything just fine.
So people; when you have problems with iTunes not connecting to your Airtunes maybe you can try the following:
1. Open System Preferences
2. Open Network pane
3. Select Airport in the left list
4. Click the Advanced button
5. Go to the TCP/IP tab
6. Set the "Configure IPv6" field to Off.
7. Click "OK"
8. Click "Apply"
9. Let iTunes connect to you're Airtunes speakers
