How can I convert iWork to Microsoft 2007

I bought a new MacBook and instead of getting Microsoft Office I got iWork (as suggested by the rep). But I cant open anything in word if I open it at another computer. Is there an easier way or should I just have gotten the microsoft Office?

Save or export your documents from Pages as Word.

Do get the PAges User Guide. It is downloadable from the Pages help menu. Also use the Pages help in the Help menu to learn how to do things.

Thank you, that was very helpful. I just found out from my teacher that since I am a student I can get Microsoft 2010 for $80. I am uncertain if I should get it or not. Do you have any advice in this situation?

Thanks. I do like the iworks, it is very creative but I just needed the Microsoft 2007 for school.

Welcome to Apple Discussions and the AppleWorks forum. This forum is intended for discussion of technical issues and techniques involving the now discontinued Apple productivity application AppleWorks.

Setting that aside, the suggestion from your teacher assumes you are using a computer running the Windows operating system. While Microsoft does make a Mac OS version of MS Office, the current version of that application is Office for Macintosh 2008. MS Office 2010 is the current Windows version

You might want to consider NeoOffice (www.neooffice,org) or OpenOffice.org (www.openoffice.org), two open source applications with reasonably high compatibility with the MS product. Both are free to download (donations requested) from their websites, listed above, and both are free to use.

Thanks, I should have just gotten Microsoft office from the mac store instead of the iworks (which is what the technician suggested). I think I will go back to the store and get office 2008 from them.
