Microsoft IntelliMouse 3.0 driver issues

Microsoft IntelliMouse 3.0 with IntelliPoint 7.1 driver (I also tryed Intellipoint 8.0)
I have set two side buttons to do back/forward as in Windows Explorer/Internet explorer, etc.
The problem:
It works perfectly for some time, but then suddenly (after sleep/reboot/turn off) stops to do back forward and does “cycling through windows” instead of it (in Finder it can easily seen which hotkey is used because of flashing appropriate command in menu). After some days the issue disappears, then appears again.
I tried to reinstall MacOs, the driver, go resetting its settings – nothing has helped. I need your assistance.
Offtop: there is no any specific section for Mac-drivers for Microsoft hardware, so MSFT guys advised me to write here.

Mac Pro 3.1, Mac OS X (10.6.4), Clear install

Have you tried repairing permissions followed by restarting? If there is a mouse plist file in your Home Preferences folder, have you tried trashing it

Yeah, Im seriously "surprisded" by Microsoft's service to be honest.
I tryed to repair permissions without success, but thats an idea to play with plist in home folder. Will give it a try.

I had a few bad experiences mixing Apple´s hardware and Other´s hardware.

I've got accostumed to MS's mice for 10 years, so its very hard to do a change without losing productivity. Thats the only reason.

I would get a magic mouse(bluetooth) or a trackpad from Apple since you will be using Apple´s hardware.
I had a few bad experiences mixing Apple´s hardware and Other´s hardware.

But when it comes to Microsoft - I remember I had a wireless mouse that in any computer (Apple or PC) - it would work for a few minutes then it would freeze. I had to unplug then plug it again (on a differente USA port) to make it work again.
