Applications folder cannot be modified

Since downloading the last system update, I cannot modify my applications folder. I have to enter my password now to do anything, delete or add. I also cannot download most games to this folder now, where in the past, I did not have this problem.

I noticed this happened on the 10.1 operating system according to my search, but I can't find any information about my operating system. Any help is appreciated.

macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

YOu can simply change it in the sharing & permissions section of the more info window. SImply navigate to the applications folder on your Mac HD. Right click on the Applications folder and select get info. Verify that you are an administrator by clicking the lock on the bottom right, type in the password and then add yourself to the permissions list and give yourself read & write capabilities. YOu don't need to use any terminal commands.

I have an imac running 10.5.8 and it worked perfectly.
