The problem is what if someone decides after a while they don't want to have a phone number and the sim expires? Then you can't even use Facetime like an ipod anymore. There should be no reason the iphone cannot do everything the ipod does + more.

Welcome to Discussions, hursty89

The only way I know to do what you want is to buy a new iPod touch and activate FaceTime on it.

If you keep the iPhone and don't get a touch, too, Allan has your answer!

I agree with Peter ( LarksHead), but you must have activated the iPhone4 so it has a cellular number, even if that number is not working due to lack of cellular service in Brazil.

If the iPhone4 has ever been activated with a phone number, it can work for FaceTime via compatible wi-fi, but you will still use your iPhone4's cell number as your contact identifier.

As explained in the following link, FaceTime requires email contact info on a new iPod touch, but the iPhone4's cell number is the contact info for FaceTime on iPhone4:

Also note that FaceTime may not be available in all countries or regions, so there is no guarantee it will work in your Brazil (or any other) location.
