HDMI Handshake problems every 20 - 30 minutes - Color Inversion Issue

Dear all,

I used the old ATV for a long time and never had problems with it. Yesterday my new ATV 2 arrived. The setup was very easy but after a few minutes a problem with HDMI Handshake occurred and repeats at least every 20-30 minutes:

I get a green screen for one or two seconds and then the picture appears again with some kind of inverted colors.

I use a Philips 40 inch 7664 LED LCD with the newest firmware installed.

Any idea what I could to to fix this issue?

Thanks

I have the same problem (ATV2 and Philips LED - 8 series).

The (temporary) solution that I have found is, when I watch a movie, is first to pause, then to change the source on my television either with the "home" button or the "AV" button, and then go back to the source where my ATV2 was before. It only works if the other source is HDMI, SCART doesn't work.

So it seems clearly to be a handshake problem, probably with the HDCP protocol. Apple never got involved with HDCP before, so it could be a software problem.

Hope there is a solution very soon. When you are in front of your big TV set, you do not want to make strange operations in the middle of a movie or a photo show to get everything normal. I thing this is rather an URGENT problem to solve.

Curiously I can also remove that bad Green / Daltonian screen by using the "options" button (which makes appear a little popup window) and then dismissing it by touching the "back" butto". It is rather a quickier method than the previous one I gave earlier.
But the problem is still hère to be resolved.

It's interesting that you get the problem with your 401 but I don't with a 403. I assumed previously that it was the 400 spec that was OK, but perhaps it's the last digit that matters (3 seems OK but 1 and 2 aren't).

Whatever, this does seem to affect a high number of Sony and Philips TV's. Given that I think that a solution will have to be found pretty quick, either by Apple or the TV manufacturers.

Dear all,

I´ve bought the new Apple TV and have exact the same HDMI Handshake Problem, after 10 Days of using. This is an Apple TV Problem, that exsits since the last years. You can "google" that 🙂 My Samsung LED TV is very new 2010 and I´ve tested many HDMI Cables. It´s all the same problem. When I restart the Apple TV, than everything is okay, but I´ve to reconfigure the whole Apple TV. Samsung says that Apple have to solve that HDMI Handshake Problem...! Apple says: "there are not enough Afflictions". So please Apple...do something. Thank you.

I am not so sure this is an Apple TV issue. I recently bought 3 PHILIPS 9604's and have been plagued with their temperamental ability to find sources - 'No Video Signal' is a constant refrain. I have one linked to a Denon 1911 AV Receiver with two Blu-Ray players and I have been close to throwing something out of the window because of the 'No Video Signal' every time you try to watch another machine. I bought Apple TV yesterday - it didn't pick up at first, but then did. Great. Tonight = F&*% all. But Philips TV WON'T pick up the other Blu Ray either. I've just come off a Philips forum where the blame is firmly placed at their door for their premium sets' inability to find HDMI sources. And it's not just Apple but anything connected through HDMI. Frustrated? Livid might cover it. I have three premium TV sets and none of them can get round the idea of reading what's connected to them.

Any advice on how to encourage a handshake appreciated.
